Give Your To-Do List to Someone Else

Each month I feature a fellow list producer who has used lists to succeed. This month Leah Busque, CEO of TaskRabbit.com is my featured list producer. The first time I heard about her company — I fell in love! It’s an amazing tool for getting your to-do list done!

Basically you sign in and name a task that you need accomplished — then a “task rabbit” will help you out for a fee! It’s like a personal assistant, guru and friend all in one! A while back we exchanged guest blogs and Leah wrote about why it’s important to outsource your to-do list so you can get more done. She’s absolutely right — giving up a few tasks to someone who can do them better will make your life so much easier!

1. Why do you call yourself a compulsive list maker?

Is there really any other way of being? I need to stay uber organized and prioritize the millions of things I have going on each day as founder and CEO of TaskRabbit (a mobile and web marketplace for getting things done).

2. What do you make lists about?

Mostly it’s my to-do list at work. And of course I make my grocery list every Saturday so I can outsource my grocery shopping to a TaskRabbit. 😉

3. How often do you make lists?

Every morning. The first thing I do when I get into the office is sit down and develop a list of things I need to cover on each day. I also develop a checklist before I go into management team meetings to ensure we hit on all the relevant and hot topics.

4. What type of list do you make the most?

That’s easy – it’s my daily work to-do list.

5. How do you make lists? (Handwritten/email/etc)

I type up a quick list in a text doc actually…I know it’s pretty old school but it’s quick and easy. I am also a huge fan of Post-It notes!

6. How have you found lists help you succeed?

It’s all about focus. My to-do lists definitely help me prioritize my daily workflow. I’ve found that I focus in on what’s most important when I capture everything in a to-do list. It really does help you prioritize and focus.

7. Specifically what was the last thing you wrote a list about?

Just finished writing my daily work to-do list- it’s going to be a crazy day! 😉

A true visionary, Leah Busque is the founder and CEO of TaskRabbit.com, the pioneer in “service networking.” Now an industry-wide concept, service networking describes the productive power of a web-based, social-networked community. Since it’s founding in 2009, Leah has grown the company to more than 20 employees and has expanded the service to Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, New York, Chicago and beyond. Prior to founding TaskRabbit, Leah was a Software Engineer at IBM, working in the Messaging and Collaboration Software Development group.
