A Checklist to Help Paris Attack Victims

151114-paris-peace-sign.jpg.CROP.promovar-mediumlargeI was devastated to hear about the attacks on Paris on Friday night. I have mentioned before on this blog that Paris is my favorite city in Europe. I had such a great time the three times I’ve visited France. So it saddens me that a place that has brought me joy is now suffering.

Having lived in New York during 9/11, I know how terrifying it can be when your city is under attack. Then, after the incident, there is the difficult waiting period as news from loved ones slowly trickles in. I am sending all the good vibes I can to the people of Paris, and those with friends and family in the city.

But there are things all of us can do in this terrible situation.  Here’s a list of ways you can help people in Paris: Read more

Topping Everyone’s Bucket List Is….

A few weeks ago I teamed up with skinnyscoop.com to do a Bucket list contest. Now the results from the competition are in! The winner of the contest has been notified but the fun doesn’t stop there.  I wanted to share the top ten items from everyone’s list:

Bucket List Results

So what do you think? Are these items on your bucket list too? To help your goals become a reality I recommend starting with a vision board.

It’s helpful to think about what you want from the upcoming year and specific goals you have in mind. I included Venice on my vision board last year and I got to go there in March. So start planning to make your bucket list dreams come to life in 2015!

Congrats to Astrid: An Amazing To-Do List App

Would you like a personal assistant to help you remember appointments and check things off your to-do list? I know of one who will work for cheap and keep you organized and make sure you hit all your deadlines. Her name is Astrid. And I’d like to offer my congratulations since the company was just sold to Yahoo.

Who is Astrid?

Astrid is an adorable little octopus and one of my favorite to-do list apps for iPhone or Android.  If you don’t have one of those devices you can also access this productivity tool by going to Astrid.com.

Astrid will keep all of your tasks organized and remind you of what you need to do with motivational and encouraging nudges like “How about it? Ready tiger?”  You can also rename all of your lists and maintain them however you like — set reminders or not, give your tasks due dates or not. It’s up to you. Read more

Traveling can be very stressful no matter how much you plan. People go travelling for a whole host of reasons. Some people are interested in doing something like this Cultural Care Au Pair, whilst others are only interested in being tourists. But there are some tips and tricks that I’ve found to help you out. Recently, Jay and I went to Italy and Paris with our friends Nicole and Peter. They were the ones we went to visit in Paris in July.

Anyway — Nicole is a crazy planner/researcher like me. She makes lists and is super organized. She even wrote a guest post about ways to pack for a two week European vacation in a carry on. It’s brilliant advice. We had a blast planning out every stop on our two-week Italian tour. So we teamed up with this list of travel must haves: Read more

Everyone loves going on vacation.  It’s great to be able to reconnect, recharge and relax!  But all that fun takes some preparation and lots and lots of lists!

  • Pros & Cons lists for destinations
  • Research lists
  • Packing lists
  • Organizing your luggage
  • Sightseeing lists
  • Must-Eat Restaurant lists
  • Bucket lists of must-visit spots
  • etc.

I recently started a Meetup group called “Lists & Libations.”  We meet once a month to talk about lists and enjoy libations!  Our next meeting on October 24th will be all about travel lists.  I would love for you to join us if you can.  Click here for all the details.

If you don’t live in NYC or can’t make it — I’m also hosting Virtual Meetups.  The next one is on October 2nd and is all about productivity apps!

Hope to see you there!
