Feed Your Organizational Soul With These Photos

Occasionally I get inquiries by other productivity or time management sites, asking my opinion on lists and such. However, last week was the first time a design website has reached out to me!  I’m used to coming up with my top 3 to-do list tips. But this was a fun project to come up with some of the visual stuff that inspires me.  I make a vision board every year with photos of goals and things I love — it’s like a visual to-do list.

CoSchedule Is A Smart Way to Schedule Social Media

cos-logo-icon-orgwht-250x250I’m all about shortcuts and tricks to get more done and with managing this blog — it’s no different. I pre-schedule blog posts in WordPress so I don’t have to worry about them. I also use Buffer and Hootsuite to help fill up my social media calendars. That way I can set everything up ahead of time and be less stressed out about having to tweet or Facebook a message. Plus, I have a day job so it’s essential to automate so I can make the most of my time. Scheduling social media has always been a hassle for me though. I’ve had the help of some wonderful interns but it’s just one of those things that I always dread doing. It’s normally the last thing I think about but something I know is so important to the survival of this blog.

It should be fun but often it’s not. Read more

However, I have a confession to make – I have not bought one single gift yet! Not one!

We’re closing in on the week before Thanksgiving and I’m sort of in a panic. I think that the reason this is happening is because I’m a little bit preoccupied with the excitement of my book Listful Thinking coming out in January and I’m putting together my VIP Launch Team (which I’m still accepting applications for until November 24) and I just have let my usual plan for getting stuff done slip through the cracks. I love animals, I even have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to cute animal pictures. As much as I love them however, I wouldn’t have considered them to be a productivity tool. Little did I know that researchers at Hiroshima University have proved me wrong. Their study shows that looking at cute pictures or videos of animals triggers care giving impulses, which may actually improve your work performance. That’s because you’re more likely to be attentive and careful. So next time you’re in work, ask your boss if you can get rid of the printer on your desk to make room for a Large hamster cage!
