Making Visual Lists With Pinterest

There are lots of different ways to make lists — handwritten, apps, typed out in documents, by calling your voicemail, and even by drawing pictures.  The website Pinterest.com is changing the list-making game.  I have been dedicating some real time to getting to know it and it’s fabulous.  It’s so much fun and once you start you won’t be able to stop!  My guest blogger Jennifer Anastasi is addicted!

Go Paperless With Pinterest

Have you heard of Pinterest? I’m a do-it-yourself, crafty type so I always have a list of project ideas a mile long. Previously, I thought I was pretty organized by keeping my ideas in a 3-ring binder and going through them every few months to weed out things that I’ve done or no longer plan to do. However, I’ve ditched the binder since discovering Pinterest. Seriously, I am in love with Pinterest and it has been so much fun to use it to organize my vision boards, craft ideas and more online! No more magazine clippings, random notes and paper scraps! I’ve gone paperless with Pinterest and you can too.

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a virtual pin board that is relatively new, it just came out in spring of 2011 and has seen explosive growth. Once you obtain a login and password you can start pinning! You simply download a little application that puts a ‘Pin It’ button on your toolbar. So any website you are on that you want to pin a picture or project you can just click on the Pin It button and voila! The great thing, is that it keeps a link to the source, so if you want to go back to the blog you were reading for instructions, etc. it is all there at your fingertips.

I have boards set up for projects I want to complete, books, clothing, home décor and more. I keep my boards fairly edited but some folks just keep on accumulating pins. The most fun part of Pinterest is that you can follow other folks’ boards and get inspired by their inspiration!

On a more serious note, Pinterest is not suitable for children to use unsupervised. There are definitely people on Pinterest who break the Pinterest etiquette…I occasionally see nudity and graphic language. However, for the most part it is just a wonderland of ideas and inspiration. I also should warn you that it is highly addictive! Happy Pinning!
