This week I have been all about apps!! Yesterday, I hosted a “Productivity Apps” webinar. In case you missed it check it out here! Today I want to introduce you to a whole new category – emergency apps! (I know, I know, I can’t get enough!)

1. iTriage
If you have any health questions this app will have the answer. You can find medications, diseases, and medical locations instantly! In the app’s new verison 5.9, members of select insurance providers will be able to find medical facilities that are In-Network for your plan. (FREE)

2. DarkSky

If snow or rain is heading your way this app will be the first to let you know! DarkSky uses your GPS location and can give you a weather forecast down to the very minute it will begin to rain. It will also send you an alert when a storm is approaching – even if you don’t have the app open. Another cool feature is that it allows you to track storms with it’s animated radar. No more getting caught in a thunderstorm, or getting blindsided by a snow shower! ($3.99 — I hate paying for apps but for this one I would happily pay again and again!)Screen shot 2014-02-27 at 7.58.50 PM

3. GottoAID
Thrust into an emergency and can’t remember how to do CPR? This is not a moment you want to have. This app will tell you step-by-step how to perform CPR, and other first aid essentials. It also gives you first aid information for your furry friends incase something happens to them. ($4.99 – there is also a Lite version that is free)Screen shot 2014-02-27 at 8.00.43 PM

4. First Aid
This app is similar to GottoAID by providing you with step-by-step everyday first aid scenarios. But First Aid is great for learning first aid anytime – they have videos available, as well as quizzes to test your knowledge. They also offer safety tips for severe weather on everything from a snow storm to a tornado. You can also connect to the local EMS or 911 if needed! (FREE)Screen shot 2014-02-27 at 8.02.13 PM

5. !Emergency!
If you travel abroad for a vacation the last thing you are thinking about is what if something bad happens. But sometimes these situations occur and you may need to call 911. In different countries the emergency number varies. This app will use your location and connect you with a number in the area. ($0.99)Screen shot 2014-02-27 at 8.03.36 PM

6. FlashLight
If the power goes out suddenly, or if you find yourself lost in the dark this is a great app to have on your phone. It provides you with a extremely bright light to guide your way as well as a compass so you know what direction you’re headed. Super simple, but so useful in any dark emergency!Screen shot 2014-02-27 at 8.05.28 PM

7. Car Care & Roadside Emergencies

Breakdowns and flat tires happen on the road! But what if you can’t reach AAA, and don’t know how to change that tire or jump start your car? This app gives you a detailed guide for road-side emergencies. It also has a pre-trip checklist to make sure everything is good to go for your road trip ! (FREE)Screen shot 2014-02-27 at 8.06.48 PM

Being prepared for those “worst case scenarios” is really important! It is not something we think about day-to-day so add “download these apps” to your to-do list!
