Oprah Here I Come!
Last April I started this blog right before my trip to one of the last tapings of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember and watching Oprah solidified my decision to become a journalist. I was determined, last April, to meet Oprah when I was at Harpo Studios — but alas, it didn’t happen. I had done my homework and made my list of questions just in case I got to speak with her — but it wasn’t to be that time. My reporter’s notebook and pencil were confiscated by security! (It wasn’t that dramatic — they basically don’t let you take anything in the studio with you. But I have a flair for the dramatic sometimes — as I’m sure you’ve noticed!)
Oprah: Round Two
But — I’ve been putting the Oprah vibe out there and I’m getting my second chance! My friend Danielle and I snagged tickets to a taping of Oprah’s Lifeclass at Radio City Music Hall in New York City for April 2nd! Yay!!! Just like last time — the tickets are given out at random using a lottery system. This could be my chance to talk to Oprah! The lessons that she’s taught throughout the years have stuck with me — my favorite being: “You Become What You Believe.”
Oprah will have Deepak Chopra as a guest — he’s one of my favorites. I actually saw him at a book launch a few weeks ago but didn’t get to chat with him. His messages about the law of attraction are amazing! In all my excitement — I went to his website for a little refresher.
A List Lesson From Deepak Chopra
One of the lessons I stumbled upon had to do with making a list! Deepak says that all your relationships are mirrors of yourself. I think that’s true. He went on to give a little list homework — make a list of all the people you tend to like or love…now also list their traits. Those are probably some of your best traits and you want more of them. Also make a list of people you are distressed by (what a nice way to say you hate them!) — and list off their traits too. These are all reflections of your own self — the positive and the negative. Once you embrace that list of both types of qualities you will be less judgmental with yourself and others. And then become more loveable! Love that! I can’t wait to learn some more lessons at the taping in April and share them all with you. 🙂
This is beyond awesome Paula! I can’t wait to read your re-cap. Oprah is one of my favorite women in the world as well, so brilliant and inspiring.
Thanks Krista! I’m thrilled! I will definitely let you know what happens and what I learn of course!
I think it’s hysterical that you are that big of a fan of Oprah … why didn’t you make your list on your hand? ha ha
Darcie – where we’re you last year??? Haha I didn’t know they were going to take all our stuff away! They said no cell phones or cameras – no mention of notebooks!
This time the instructions say you can bring smartphones and tablets! I wonder what’s going on….
WOOT! So excited you are getting some more Oprah love! And yes, you are dramatic in that first paragraph! I’m thinking the security trying to pry the notebook and pen from your hand and you screaming NOOOOO! Lol. Vivid imagination huh?
I’m so excited about this!! Thanks so much for the congrats and for reading the post. I will keep you posted on it! hahaha — I had to come clean with the security part! 🙂
