Check out this free shortcut for entrepreneurs

Some of you want to start your own business or are looking for your next big thing. Am I right?

I know this because you’ve told me through the years as you’ve followed my journey from full time producer to side hustler with my book Listful Thinking to full on entrepreneur with my media coaching and training business.

It’s been 6 months since I left my full time job as a senior health producer at Fox News Channel and believe me – I don’t have it all figured out.

But what I do know is that finding experts to give you shortcuts is the way to go.

I was invited to speak as a media expert at this year’s UpLEVEL Together Online Summit because getting media for your business can give you a credibility boost and bring eyeballs your way like nothing else.

It’s the global online summit for early-stage women entrepreneurs, I know many of you fall into this category or know someone who does!

From April 23rd – 27th, experts (including me) from around the world will be pouring their knowledge and practical tips into YOUR business! (or potential business)

Some pretty incredible women entrepreneurs are featured who have accomplished a lot in their careers, too. Here are a couple things you’ll learn:

– How to build a brand you love!

-How to create a scalable business model!

– How to get camera ready so you can maximize opportunities!

– How to get booked by media! (that’s my piece!)

– Why it’s important to develop a powerful company culture early!

– And much more!

This is an event you’re not going to want to miss! Afraid you can’t “be there”? Don’t worry!

The UpLEVEL Together Summit is a FREE, VIRTUAL online conference!

You don’t have to travel – the interviews come to you to you! They’ll be broadcast over the web, so you can watch from the comfort of home.

You can watch every speaker’s interview for 2 hours after it goes live. See the agenda for more details.

The Summit is hosted by my friend, fellow entrepreneur, Ginny Townsend.

She has over a decade strategic marketing experience and has helped organizations of all shapes, sizes and industries draw out their unique gold, as well as, understand where they’ve been holding themselves back in the marketplace.

Join me and 19 other experts at the UpLEVEL Together Summit. Grab your FREE ticket today!

In my talk I’ll be explaining how to get booked by the media – it’s not as complicated as it seems! My talk on Wed April 25th so be sure to tune in!

FREE WEBINAR: How to Get on TV

“How do I get on TV”

As a senior TV news producer for nearly 20 years that is a question I’m asked a lot.

Honestly it’s not as difficult as you would think.

You don’t have to have special credentials, you don’t have to have a PR person or have a huge social media following — but what you do need to know is what the media is looking for.

If you are trying to get on TV, in magazines, on radio, etc. sometimes it’s more about what not to do!

OMG – in my career I can’t even tell you how many bad pitches I’ve been sent through the years!!

Well actually – I probably could because I’ve kept them all in my “bad pitches” folder. 🙂

Sometimes you can tell that the core idea isn’t bad, but the expert or publicist just don’t know how to present it correctly.

So what are these pitches faux pas and pitfalls? Well that is something I can teach you.

Register now for my FREE online training, “5 (Little-Known) Secrets to Snagging Media Attention (that Even PR Pros Get Wrong) on March 13th @ 8pm ET and March 14th @ 3pm ET.

I’m co-hosting it with Terri Trespicio who served as a senior editor for Martha Stewart for many years, hosted her own radio show and has appeared on all kinds of top-tier media like, “The Today Show,” “The Early Show,” “The Dr. Oz Show,” and many more!

I actually booked her as guest when I was at Fox News Channel.  That’s how we met!

During this live webinar, we’ll show you:

  • What the media is (and isn’t)
interested in
  • How to get the media to take you seriously
  • The real reason you aren’t hearing back
  • The things everyone gets wrong about pitching the media

You’ll leave this webinar with ideas and actions you can take right away to start upping your media game!

New Way of Making Lists That Entrepreneurs Will Love

Three months ago I took the plunge, I quit my day job and started working for myself full time media training and coaching experts, authors and entrepreneurs and producing videos and podcasts with them. I’ve had a  great time since I left Fox News — I spoke at the PRSA Tri-State Conference for PR professionals, been interviewed by Peter Shankman about listmaking and started a radio show (more on that later!)

But since I’ve made the crossover to becoming self employed, I’ve had to make a few adjustments. My productivity style that had worked so well for me before just wasn’t quite fitting in with my new lifestyle.

The key to productivity is all about finding what works for you, and as our lives change, so must our lists! Read more

The Secret to Getting on TV

“How do I get on TV?” It’s probably the question I’ve been asked most often in my career.

If you’re new to this blog — shoutout to all my new followers in China, Japan and the Netherlands now that my book has been published there — I’m thrilled to welcome you.  The new readers may not realize that not only am I an author and productivity expert but I’m also a television news producer. That’s my “day job,” and I’ve been doing it for more than 15 years.

I put my producer hat on at the BlogHer16 conference in Los Angeles as a featured speaker this past week.  I was alongside my close friend and colleague Terri Trespicio.  We talked to bloggers in all categories: health, wellness, politics, food, money, etc., about how to take their message and pitch it to the media. We talked about how to become a go-to expert and what really stands out in the eyes of producers and editors.

That’s how Terri and I met after all. I booked her for a TV segment when she was a senior editor for Martha Stewart’s Whole Living Magazine. And years later when I started this blog – I pitched her a related idea it in the magazine. Fun, right?

Since Terri — as a former magazine editor, radio host and now a branding strategist and media coach — gets the same question about being on TV as I do — we’ve decided to team up.

We’re going to release a 4-week online course this September about how to get and keep media attention.

It’s called Lights Camera Expert! It’s designed for entrepreneurs, authors and experts of all kinds. We will be teaching you how to crack the media code, craft the perfect pitch and crush it on air — click here to join our list to be the first to hear all about it.

As a thank you we’ll send you our free ebook called, “5 Things You Should Never Say to a Producer.” We had a lot of fun putting it together.

We are so thrilled to teach something so near and dear to our hearts and help bloggers, authors, entrepreneurs and business owners boost their brand in the media.

I’d love to keep you posted on my newest endeavor Lights Camera Expert — check it out here and please tell anyone you think might be interested as well.  Appreciate your support!
