Don’t Waste Your Sunday
I love Sundays! There’s so many things you can do with this final day (or first depending on how you look at it) in the week. You can catch up on errands and chores, relax with a bottle of wine and Netflix or get some much-needed sleep. The only problem with Sundays is that they feel really, really short!
It’s fairly normal to get to 9pm and look back and wonder where the day has gone. This can sometimes lead to “Sunday Evening Bum Out”. It can really set you off on the wrong foot for the start of the week.
Here are some ways to make sure you get the most out of this day so you can start on Monday feeling refreshed!
Plan your Monday on Friday – As tempting as it is to rush out of the office as soon as you can on a Friday – it might be worth to take a little bit of extra time to plan out your Monday. I like to make an action plan all the things I have to do so I can hit the ground running when I get into the office. It’s also smart to get your desk space and your email inbox tidy as well. Now you can relax all weekend knowing that your Monday will run smoothly.
Prioritize – Think – what do you need to get out of this weekend in order to feel happy and less stressed on Monday morning? It may be that you need to clean your house from top to bottom or maybe you want to spend all day in your pajamas. Both of these options are fine! Looking after yourself is just as important as looking after your family or your house. Just make sure that you focus on each one at least once a month.
Be efficient with your time – When people tell me they’re super busy I like to remind them that it’s not about how many hours you have in a day – it’s all about how you spend those hours. I don’t mean you have to run a million errands on Sunday, but you should try to focus on the priorities highlighted above. So if you’re trying to get in some R&R think about how you can maximize your relaxation. You could cook extra on Saturday to have give yourself a night off from cooking or maybe go to a yoga class.
Don’t Procrastinate – If you have lots to do – get as much done as you can before lunch and then give yourself the rest of the day to relax. If you draw it out all day you’ll only prolong the task. This way you get a sense of accomplishment from completing your tasks as well as some time to indulge in wasted time.
Try this plan this week and let me know how it works for you!
