Livescribe3 Pen Digitizes Your Notes In Seconds

livescribe1One of the biggest complaints people have about switching to digital list making is that they really enjoy writing notes down on paper.

I agree completely and that’s why I haven’t totally made the switch myself, I use both. When I take meeting notes on a phone call or in a meeting I usually end up taking a photo of my notes and uploading the photo to Evernote for later use. Then if I misplace my paper notes I know I have a backup that is searchable. There are also some notes just don’t translate to digital well — like if you’re drawing a seating chart or map.

But fear not, now you don’t have to give up your handwritten notes! Some techie geniuses at Livescribe have solved this problem with a pen that transcribes everything you write onto your mobile devices. Sounds like the coolest thing ever, right? Yeah — I thought so too. The company sent me a pen so I could check it out for myself and tell you all about it.

Make Your Team More Productive With Asana

teamworkBeing productive is not always a lone effort. In my day job and with my interns for this blog, I frequently have to work with a team. Being productive with a team requires collaboration and good communication, but with more people involved there are more opportunities for someone to forget to “reply all.”

Recently my interns and I began using Asana, a web and mobile application, designed by Facebook employees to improve the company’s productivity. We like it because it has allowed us to send fewer emails and it never lets us busy ladies forget anything!

There are a few reasons we think you’ll love it too:

Fab Find: Evernote Smart Notebook

Evernote Smart NotebookRemember two weeks ago when I started a new thing called “Shortlisted”?  Well I’m renaming it — yes, already!  I think “Fab Find” is so much more “me.”

So behold…the brand new “Fab Find” for this week…an Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine.

First off — if you’re not using Evernote, you should be.  It’s the best place to keep all your lists, recipes, website clippings, gift ideas, notes, etc.  I’ve been a big fan for a long time.  There is also a notebook that syncs up with the Evernote app and website to make the experience even more cool.  Here are a few features:

1.  It’s a Moleskine product — Have you ever written in a Moleskine notebook? You must — it’s like no other.  It just feels smooth and special. Trust me.

2.  Digitize your content — Whatever you write in the notebook can quickly be saved to your Evernote account.  Simply take a photo with your smartphone and it will digitize the note.

3.  Easy to find what you need — When the note is digitized it is also automatically tagged.  There are also stickers that you can put on each page that will send it to the category you choose.  What that means is that any keyword you can think of is now associated with that note — making it easy to find when you’re pulling your hair out because you need to just remember “that thing you wrote down that time.” Read more

What Breaking Bad Taught Me About Productivity

Wow — it’s hard to believe it’s over. Breaking Bad has officially wrapped it’s series up. Don’t worry there won’t be any spoilers here. Instead — just a little dedication to our dear friend Walter White and his work ethic.

Say what you will about Walt: crazy, determined, brilliant, awkward, dangerous, duplicitous, deceitful. He is also incredibly productive! He turned out his “product” time and time again and made millions in the process. (Nevermind all the other things he lost in the process.)

Here are four productivity tips I’ve learned from Walter White and Breaking Bad:
