Join Me For Tea!

ProductiviTEA social media (1)People often assume that coffee is the most productive drink as it helps keeps you going. However while coffee makes you feel more awake, it doesn’t really help you think any better. If you want to get more out of your day I would recommend switching to tea. The lower caffeine content in tea keeps you alert but doesn’t make you jittery. Tea can really start off your whole day in the best way, there are so many different types out there for people to try such as black, green, herbal, matcha, the list is endless!

I also find that making a cup of tea perfectly fills a five-minute break, and gives you a chance to reflect on your work. There have even been studies that show drinking tea will make you more productive.

CoSchedule Is A Smart Way to Schedule Social Media

cos-logo-icon-orgwht-250x250I’m all about shortcuts and tricks to get more done and with managing this blog — it’s no different. I pre-schedule blog posts in WordPress so I don’t have to worry about them. I also use Buffer and Hootsuite to help fill up my social media calendars. That way I can set everything up ahead of time and be less stressed out about having to tweet or Facebook a message. Plus, I have a day job so it’s essential to automate so I can make the most of my time. I could also, once I find the time – employ a company such as these wordpress seo experts to try and get more traffic to my blog as well as my social media that I try so hard to upkeep and maintain as to not let me content go stale or unseen.

Scheduling social media has always been a hassle for me though. I’ve had the help of some wonderful interns but it’s just one of those things that I always dread doing. It’s normally the last thing I think about but something I know is so important to the survival of this blog.

It should be fun but often it’s not. Read more

Bad Productivity Habits You Picked Up In College

As graduates around the country end their academic careers I’m reminded that college is great for many different reasons. It’s a chance to expand your mind, meet lots of new people, get involved in new activities – the list goes on and on.

The one thing college is not so great for is your productivity.

The college lifestyle is structured completely differently to your typical working week. This isn’t a bad thing, it just means you might have a bit of a shock the first week of a new full time job.

Here are some bad habits you might have picked up in college that might still be sticking with you today:

Working Until the Early Morning – Everyone has a story of that one paper they left until the last second. Drinking coffee to stay up until 5am, desperately trying to write the whole thing in one night — you remember the scenario. This is fine when you have nowhere to be the next day, but highly impractical if you work.

If you get used to the idea that you can leave things until the last minute without consequence, it can be quite difficult to shake. Try to give yourself a fake deadline, a week in advance. This way even if you leave everything to the last minute you will still have some extra time to polish and refine. Read more

The One Thing That Will Make You More Productive All Day

Breakfast

Breakfast (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I like to take my time in the mornings. I like to wake up early and slowly get ready. Having a relaxed start makes my whole day feel more serene. An important part of my morning ritual is breakfast. I always leave it until last, in case I’m running late and then I can just eat breakfast at work.

Now normally I read the news on my iPad while I eat. However, I often find myself getting sidetracked and taking longer than I planned.  You know, checking Facebook, emailing an interesting story I’d just read to a friend, checking Twitter, paying a bill that I just remembered about, etc.  So instead I decided to try something a little different.

I just ate. Nothing else. Read more
