List of Must-Eat NYC Restaurants

One of my favorite things to do is eat. I love to try new restaurants, new foods and share my recommendations with just about anyone who will listen! Recently I tried escargot in Paris — yep…snails! They were delish!

But the purpose of this post isn’t to tell you all about the amazing things I tasted on vacation but it’s to give you a list of some must-try restaurants if you plan on visiting NYC any time soon.

I’ve mentioned the BlogHer12 conference before and it’s coming to NYC in just a few weeks. So this list is meant to all those bloggers who will be storming the Big Apple and hungry for some great food. Most of these restaurants are located in Midtown — which is where the conference is located. But I did throw in a few of my favorites in nearby neighborhoods. Bon Appetit!

 

List, Lists & More Lists

I can’t help myself — I have to make lists about everything.  Planning trips, buying gifts, things to do, goals I have, restaurants I like, questions to ask, etc. etc. etc.  So I’ve compiled some of my lists (and guests’ lists too) all in one place as a reference for you.

Check out my lists page and feel free to print them up and take them with you — to look for an apartment, to buy a bra, be a better parent or pack for a trip.  I’m always working to improve and add to these lists.  Please let me know if there are any you’d like me to find for you and I’ll track down the best expert with some tips.  Or I’ll make the list myself — being that I love it so much.  Hope you find these helpful!

 

Making Visual Lists With Pinterest

There are lots of different ways to make lists — handwritten, apps, typed out in documents, by calling your voicemail, and even by drawing pictures.  The website Pinterest.com is changing the list-making game.  I have been dedicating some real time to getting to know it and it’s fabulous.  It’s so much fun and once you start you won’t be able to stop!  My guest blogger Jennifer Anastasi is addicted!

Go Paperless With Pinterest

Have you heard of Pinterest? I’m a do-it-yourself, crafty type so I always have a list of project ideas a mile long. Previously, I thought I was pretty organized by keeping my ideas in a 3-ring binder and going through them every few months to weed out things that I’ve done or no longer plan to do. However, I’ve ditched the binder since discovering Pinterest. Seriously, I am in love with Pinterest and it has been so much fun to use it to organize my vision boards, craft ideas and more online! Gary Vaynerchuk’s Wine Collecting List

I’ve said it before — I only drink water, tea and wine. I still haven’t thrown my wine tasting party but I plan on doing it in the fall when all the summer craziness dies down. Jay and I belong to a wine club, which helps us out when we want to try something new.

Speaking of wine — I’ve had Gary Vaynerchuck guest post before — he’s a wacky wine guru and social media ninja.  If you want to know anything about either of those topics — Gary is your man. I have to confess that Pinot Grigio is still my go-to wine. I know, I know — Gary is going to yell at me again. But what can I say — I’m a creature of habit!

I’ve never thought about collecting wine as a hobby simply because I drink it too quickly to collect it. But it sounds cool enough. Here’s Gary’s list for collecting vintage wines.

  • Wine collecting is one of the most profitable ways to invest. If you buy at the right time, there’s some serious return if you hold on to some of the most highly collectible wines out there.
  • If you’re keeping wine for the long term, it’s absolutely imperative to keep the wines in a cellar environment (55 degrees Fahrenheit and 75% humidity). When you’re reselling wine, the location where it was stored makes or breaks the value.
  • What makes a wine collectible? Pedigree of winery/vineyards, score, and vintage.
  • If you’re cellaring for yourself instead of pure investment, know what you like! It’s the most crucial point to enjoying wine, just like food. Don’t be ashamed if you like sweeter wines or only like whites. There are a ton of great and age worthy wines in other categories than reds.
  • It’s always a good idea to include ‘cellar defenders’, that is nice wines that can be drunk on the shorter term and will also save some of the most prized bottles in your collection if you have guests over. No need to open up that bottle of ’82 Lafite when you can have a drink now Bordeaux!
