Many companies have been experimenting with a four-day work week. And finding a lot of success with that new system!
A four-day work week has been proven to keep workers happier, motivated, and more efficient. Doesn’t that sound great?
I’ve always been a huge proponent of a shorter work week. Because it’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter!
Here are three tips to help you integrate shorter work weeks at your office.
1) Communicate!
Everything’s better when you communicate. Especially a four-day work week!
To make sure things go smoothly when you’re out of the office, tell co-workers and clients when you’re going to be out! Let people know when you will be out, put it on a shared calendar, and remind them the day before.

2) Turn your out-of-office message on!
Turn on your out-of-office message so when people send you emails (and they will) they know not to expect a response.
And then don’t respond! It’s tempting to check your emails and notifications when you’re not working. If you answer one email, you’ll end up answering all of them.
If you say you’re going to work four days. Only work four days. Don’t answer messages on your day off. This helps you and everyone else get comfortable with your schedule.

3) Batch your tasks!
Even though you have an extra day off, your work still needs to get done. And that means working more efficiently.
Batching similar tasks can really help! Doing similar tasks at the same time will help you execute faster and complete everything so you can leave the office behind during your three-day weekend.
Pro tip – timing your tasks will help you plan more efficiently in the future as well. Knowing exactly how long your regular tasks take will help you plan out your workflow during the week.
