I’ve been watching Oprah’s Lifeclass and one of her lessons was about spreading joy.

Dictionaries hold the answers (Photo credit: 3nglishN3rd)
Every year Merriam-Webster announces a list of new words being added to their dictionary. It’s like the Academy Award nominations for nerds. Being a lover of words — I’m always interested to see which ones made the list. In recent years there have been a few nods to pop culture.
This year’s newbies include:
Bucket list
Sexting
Gastropub
Man cave
Ear worm
Mash-up
Aha moment
I think you know which ones are my favorites here!
I’m thrilled that “bucket list” has made the list! It’s such an important tool for goal making and dreaming. Once you put something down on paper — it suddenly becomes tangible
Yay for Oprah — she’s made it to the dictionary! As a fan — I’ve listened to her and her guests talk about having an “aha moment” over and over. It’s good to see that this clever and catchy phrase has gotten it’s due.
Here’s a video of Oprah talking about what an “aha moment” is for her.

“You become what you believe” has been my mantra for some time — thanks to Oprah Winfrey. It’s one of her most famous sayings — she actually borrowed it from Maya Angelou. It’s by far my favorite life lesson. It’s true: if you believe it — you can become it!
I was fortunate enough to be in the audience for Oprah’s show “Lifeclass” at Radio City Music Hall in New York City to learn some more life lessons. The show airs on April 23rd on OWN. My best friend Danielle and I were there — tweeting and texting away! They actually encouraged and allowed the use of cell phones in the theater. It was a very cool day for social media. Read more
I’m almost never bored. I can always find something to do. Not because I’m a super busy person (some days I am) but because I like doing a lot of things. I have a lot of hobbies and I hardly ever tire of doing the laundry list of things that I enjoy doing:

Last April I started this blog right before my trip to one of the last tapings of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember and watching Oprah solidified my decision to become a journalist. I was determined, last April, to meet Oprah when I was at Harpo Studios — but alas, it didn’t happen. I had done my homework and made my list of questions just in case I got to speak with her — but it wasn’t to be that time. My reporter’s notebook and pencil were confiscated by security! (It wasn’t that dramatic — they basically don’t let you take anything in the studio with you. But I have a flair for the dramatic sometimes — as I’m sure you’ve noticed!) Read more
