Why You Need an Emergency Packing List

packingA few days ago my parents called me in the middle of the day at work and told me that my mom had to be taken to the hospital. She got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, blacked out and fell and hit her head badly. Eeek! I talked to her and she was fine but being admitted for all kinds of tests. So I wanted to be there with her. I left work and went home to pack an overnight bag and froze.

I couldn’t think of anything that I needed – and I should’ve known that I needed all the essentials.  You know — pajamas, an outfit for the next day, toiletries, etc. But I couldn’t think of anything. When something like this happens your mind is thinking a hundred different things. It catches you off guard and your not able to think as rationally. Read more

Topping Everyone’s Bucket List Is….

A few weeks ago I teamed up with skinnyscoop.com to do a Bucket list contest. Now the results from the competition are in! The winner of the contest has been notified but the fun doesn’t stop there.  I wanted to share the top ten items from everyone’s list:

Bucket List Results

So what do you think? Are these items on your bucket list too? To help your goals become a reality I recommend starting with a vision board.

It’s helpful to think about what you want from the upcoming year and specific goals you have in mind. I included Venice on my vision board last year and I got to go there in March. So start planning to make your bucket list dreams come to life in 2015!

I love animals, I even have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to cute animal pictures. As much as I love them however, I wouldn’t have considered them to be a productivity tool. Little did I know that researchers at Hiroshima University have proved me wrong. Their study shows that looking at cute pictures or videos of animals triggers care giving impulses, which may actually improve your work performance. That’s because you’re more likely to be attentive and careful. So next time you’re in work, ask your boss if you can get rid of the printer on your desk to make room for a Large hamster cage! TalkTo App is Now Path Talk

pathI’ve written a lot about TalkTo on this blog and on social media. It’s the app allows you to text local businesses.

Well, the TalkTo app no longer works… the company joined forces with another and the app is now called Path Talk.

Unfortunately the interface is a bit different and takes a little getting used to.  I’ve been testing it out the past few days.

When you download the new app you’ll notice that contacting businesses has now moved under the “Places” tab. The Path Talk website says the app is free to use for a limited period of time, though it’s not clear how long that is.  After that you can sign up for the premium service, however the prices and what you will get for that service are not very clear either. I’ll see what else I can find out and update this when I know more.   Read more

Letters to My Future Self

letterOne of my favorite assignments I was given in elementary school was to write letters to our “future selves”, a few years in advance. The principal kept the notes and distributed them when we got to the designated grade. We wrote down what was important to us then, what we thought we would be doing when we opened the letter, our fears, hopes, etc. Read more
