One of my favorite parts of meeting list makers in person was getting to see your lists! That was always so fun. And being able to debate the pros and cons of using technology with lists or keeping it old school. So much fun!

“How do I get on TV”
As a senior TV news producer for nearly 20 years that is a question I’m asked a lot.
Honestly it’s not as difficult as you would think.
You don’t have to have special credentials, you don’t have to have a PR person or have a huge social media following — but what you do need to know is what the media is looking for.
If you are trying to get on TV, in magazines, on radio, etc. sometimes it’s more about what not to do!
OMG – in my career I can’t even tell you how many bad pitches I’ve been sent through the years!!
Well actually – I probably could because I’ve kept them all in my “bad pitches” folder. 🙂
Sometimes you can tell that the core idea isn’t bad, but the expert or publicist just don’t know how to present it correctly.
So what are these pitches faux pas and pitfalls? Well that is something I can teach you.

Since I started ListProducer.com and wrote Listful Thinking I’ve been on my fair share of radio shows. It’s a nice way to meet new people, many of whom are often list makers themselves. Plus I always find we have really interesting conversations about what it really means to be more productive.

Listful Thinking has been translated into 10 languages! The different titles and covers of the various international versions of my book all give me a small insight into the cultures they represent. A prime example of this is the Japanese cover which features an adorable robot. Plus there’s now a new language to add to the ongoing list – Korean!I’m excited to announce the next step in the Listful Thinking journey. If you’re new to this blog — shoutout to all my new followers in China, Japan and the Netherlands now that my book has been published there — I’m thrilled to welcome you. The new readers may not realize that not only am I an author and productivity expert but I’m also a television news producer. That’s my “day job,” and I’ve been doing it for more than 15 years.
I put my producer hat on at the BlogHer16 conference in Los Angeles as a featured speaker this past week. I was alongside my close friend and colleague Terri Trespicio. We talked to bloggers in all categories: health, wellness, politics, food, money, etc., about how to take their message and pitch it to the media. We talked about how to become a go-to expert and what really stands out in the eyes of producers and editors.
That’s how Terri and I met after all. I booked her for a TV segment when she was a senior editor for Martha Stewart’s Whole Living Magazine. And years later when I started this blog – I pitched her a related idea it in the magazine. Fun, right?
Since Terri — as a former magazine editor, radio host and now a branding strategist and media coach — gets the same question about being on TV as I do — we’ve decided to team up.
