Hail a Cab From Your Phone

photoEver had trouble hailing a cab? If you’re a New Yorker…I’m talking to you.  Well, as it turns out — there’s an app for that! (Haha) Maybe you’re caught out in the rain, or carrying a ton of groceries. You’d love to grab a cab ride home, but easier said than done, right? Not anymore — with the help of Hailo, you can hail a cab from your phone!

I tried it out a few weeks ago and I have to say it was  quick and easy! All you have to do is choose a location to be picked up and the app will tell you the name of your cab driver, his phone number, and how long you’ll need to wait. You even can track where the cab is on your phone, so no need to waste time waiting outside.

Take a Trip Down Memory Lane

Just last week an old friend (as in we’ve known each other a long time — not old like she’s actually old. I’m sure she would want me to clarify) dragged me to a concert.  I’m half excited and half embarrassed to tell you we went to the New Kids on the Block concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  Eee — I know! So I really didn’t want to go and she made me.  And I’m really glad she did.

It’s was so fun to hear all those old songs again and remember what life was like back in the 90s. haha!  I had a smile on my face the whole time. (Maybe some of that had to do with the Pinot Grigio…but I digress.)  So I wanted to take the opportunity to tell all of you how good for your soul a little trip down memory lane can be!  Whether it’s music, pictures or even clothes — remembering the past can be a blast.

Remember how much fun it was for Carrie and the girls from Sex and the City?

Traveling can be very stressful no matter how much you plan. People go travelling for a whole host of reasons. Some people are interested in doing something like this Cultural Care Au Pair, whilst others are only interested in being tourists. But there are some tips and tricks that I’ve found to help you out. Recently, Jay and I went to Italy and Paris with our friends Nicole and Peter. They were the ones we went to visit in Paris in July.

Anyway — Nicole is a crazy planner/researcher like me. She makes lists and is super organized. She even wrote a guest post about ways to pack for a two week European vacation in a carry on. It’s brilliant advice. We had a blast planning out every stop on our two-week Italian tour. So we teamed up with this list of travel must haves: Read more

Everyone loves going on vacation.  It’s great to be able to reconnect, recharge and relax!  But all that fun takes some preparation and lots and lots of lists!

  • Pros & Cons lists for destinations
  • Research lists
  • Packing lists
  • Organizing your luggage
  • Sightseeing lists
  • Must-Eat Restaurant lists
  • Bucket lists of must-visit spots
  • etc.

I recently started a Meetup group called “Lists & Libations.”  We meet once a month to talk about lists and enjoy libations!  Our next meeting on October 24th will be all about travel lists.  I would love for you to join us if you can.  Click here for all the details.

If you don’t live in NYC or can’t make it — I’m also hosting Virtual Meetups.  The next one is on October 2nd and is all about productivity apps!

Hope to see you there!

Planning My Trip to Paris

In just a few hours I’ll be taking off for Paris! Jay and I are visiting our fabulous friends Nicole and Peter who decided to move there for three months “just because.”

I know — they are a bit crazy — but this is why we love them. Oh, and also — they love to eat. And they love to plan! (Ok, Nicole and I love to plan…Jay and Peter love to eat more.) This trip has been months in the making.

Here’s a look at how we organized everything:

1. Plan out must-dos: Nicole and I traded email after email for months with lists about what we wanted to do on this trip.

Here’s what it boiled down to: Read more
