You might think you’ve heard every productivity tip in the book. But it might be time to revisit and refresh the classic productivity advice we’ve all heard before.

I revisited some tried and true tips with Tamsen Fadal and Arrainnee LeBeau last time I was interviewed on PIX 11 News.

Here are my new twists on old productivity advice.

1) Don’t check your email in the morning.

You’ve heard the advice: Don’t check your email in the morning. But not checking your email can be even more stressful than checking it.

So my productivity tip is to check your emails (if you want), but don’t reply to anything unless it takes 30 seconds or less.

2) Don’t Multi-task.

Multi-tasking can be a dangerous game. You can’t muli-task on things that need 100% of your focus and attention. But it can be done. If you multi-task the smart way.

You probably can’t run a mile and cook all your meals for the week at the same time. But you can listen to a podcast or meeting recording as you go for a walk.

3) Make to-do lists.

I love lists, but long lists stress me out! The solution? Make shorter lists.

You can make lists for the day, week, or by category. It’s up to you! Just make sure it’s not overwhelming to look at.

I like to use daily lists but do what works best for you!

4) Become a morning person.

So many people will tell you, you need to become a morning person. And you can, if you want to.

But you don’t have to! You just need to figure out when you’re most productive during the day. And then arrange your day (and your to-do lists) around that.

Being productive just means finding what works best for you. So keep refreshing and revisiting the productivity tips you try until you find a system that works!
