Gifts for New Moms Like Kate Middleton

I can’t believe it was nearly two years ago that the first Royal baby was born. I’m just as excited as I was then for Kate’s second baby. Especially as it’s a baby girl! It’s about time the Royal family added a little femininity. This time around I caught the whole thing on Periscope, it was really fun to be part of such an important moment. The second royal baby was born on Saturday May 2nd, weighing 8lb 3oz, so a little smaller then her older brother. Re-living the experience reminded me of this post, which is just as pertinent now.

The world has been buzzing for months about the Royal Baby and I’m no exception! Finally a little prince was born on July 22, 2013 at 4:24 pm London time. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. (where did Kate Middleton hide him?) and he and his mum (!) are said to be doing well. New dad Prince William said, “We couldn’t be happier.” It’s been said he bought a little teddy bear for the next in line to the crown.

A Gift Fit for a Princess
This Royal birth got me thinking — in lists, of course. What do you get a new mom? Especially a woman who has everything? You want to get something that she’ll really appreciate and value. It’s a big time in her life and you want your gift to be memorable.

There are always the old standbys of a day at the spa or gift certificates to local take-out restaurants, or even something super useful for the baby from evolved mommy or similar. Sure, what new mom wouldn’t love a day to relax and get a mani/pedi. But who wants to give an ordinary gift? You want your gift to be one she’ll really love and remember. There are some fantastic baby products online nowadays that the new mom in your life will love! Just remember to check out some baby product reviews on websites like first to make sure that you are investing in a quality gift.

It’s always a good policy to give something that can come from only you, but if you’re stumped, here’s my list of great gifts for new moms:

A Day of House Cleaning

Every new mom is busy enough taking care of her newborn, let alone the house. It could be worth opting for a cleaning service to pop by and clean up the place. It’ll lighten the mother’s load and check an item off her to-do list. You could even hire a maid from somewhere similar to Simply Maid to regularly clean the house, because the mother will have little time to clean when caring for the baby!
You want your new mom friend to be fashionable right? Well a pair of Tieks is just what she’ll want. These fabulous and comfortable flats will help her get through those long days and nights. And the best part — they are foldable so she can take them on the go.

Subscription to FarFaria
This app makes story time easy. It offers unlimited reading within its library and allows you to take countless children’s books with you on the go.
Subscription to Audible
With over a 1,000 audiobooks for children 4 and under, Audible will keep new moms and their kids entertained, even when mom’s too tired to read out loud.

Birthday Box

The actual birthday box is full of a lot of big moments for new parents, and it can be easy to lose track of things that are unrelated to the newborn. Collect some newspaper clippings, photos, notes, and any other mementos from that day. Years from now, parents will love to be able to look back and remember the day that it all began.

A gift certificate will help with the little things, like scheduling appointments or doing a little research. I swear by the service but remember it’s meant for tasks that take about 15 minutes…like finding a pediatrician!
Eye-Fi Camera Memory Card
This card will help out any new parent — it automatically uploads any photos in its memory to your computer through your home’s WIFI network. Sharing all those adorable baby pictures will be a cinch!
Buy your friends a gift certificate and they’ll get organic food made and delivered for their baby.
OpenTable Gift Certificate
New moms have to eat too! Maybe if someone is nice enough to babysit, Mommy and Daddy can go out for a nice dinner together.
