7 Foods to Eat Your Way to Productivity
When we think about the different ways to get more out of our day, we don’t often think about changing our diet.
Put down the donut and try these yummy productivity boosters instead.
Blueberries – If there were such a thing as ultimate super fruit, it would be blueberries. They’re high in antioxidants, high in fiber and low on the glycemic index. Plus a recent study shows eating blueberries can help ward off degenerative diseases such as Alzhiemer’s disease. Which means there’s a good reason to indulge in blueberry pancakes for breakfast today!
Green Tea – Not only is this one of my favorite beverages but it has the sciene to back it up. Asians have been drinking green tea for thousands of years because it can help to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovasicular disease. Why not make yourself a green tea latte instead of your morning coffee?
Wild Salmon – Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential brain food. If you find yourself regularly loosing your keys or forgetting appointments try adding more fish to your diet as studies show omega-3 helps to boost your memory.
Dark Chocolate – Most people don’t eat chocolate for it’s health benefits, but a few pieces of dark chocolate a day can actually keep the doctor away! Dark chocolate has been shown to decrease stroke risk, raise your good cholesterol and improve your mood! This will give you a little nudge to be creative and get your work done.
Avocado – Having an avocado for breakfast is a great way to build the foundation for an energized day. Avocados help your blood circulation, which is key for optimal brain function. Avocado is also often used in skin masks as it has been shown to protect your skin from environmental damage.
Honey – Honey was used by the Egyptians and the Greeks as a main ingredient in their various healing recipes. Honey is also naturally anti-bacterial, which is why it can be used to fight illness. Eating a little bit of honey can help you sleep better so you’ll be more alert for work the next day.
Banana – The most known fact about bananas is that they are an excellent source of potassium. Bananas also contain the daily amount of glucose required for your brain, as well as being an excellent source of energy. Studies show that eating a banana can give you as much energy as a sport drink, and give you a greater nutritional boost. So next time you know you’re going to have a long day at the office don’t forget to bring your banana!
