How to Make Virtual Holiday Cards

November 21, 2020/in Holidays/by Paula Rizzo

I love sending paper cards. It’s a simple way to brighten someone’s day. In fact, when my Aunt Dee was alive she would send them and remind us all that we were loved.

But I realize that a lot of people will probably make the switch to digital this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, so many people are staying with family for extended periods or not where they usually are to stay safe from COVID-19.

I actually really like virtual cards too and when I was planning my virtual 40th birthday party this summer, I had a blast making the invitations!

Having just released my book, Listful Living: A List-Making Journey to a Less Stressed You, I’ve been doing a lot of media interviews.

Since book is all about becoming less stressed, and given the time of year, the same question tends to pop up time and time again – how do you cope with holiday stress?

There’s a lot of pressure this time of year. You’ve got to buy presents, go to social events, travel, organize flights and what about all the cooking? There’s just so much going on. How do you fit it all in?

I’ll answer some of the most popular questions I get here:  Read more

A List for Thanksgiving Efficiency!

November 25, 2015/in Holidays, Increase Productivity, List Making, Shopping/by Paula Rizzo

turkey-966494_640This week you’ll be bombarded with posts about gratitude and remembering to love your friends and family and I was tempted to write one myself.  But the planner in me stopped — and decided to make a practical list instead.

I figured it would be more efficient to share a list of ways to get through these busy days easier because everyone else would cover the other topics.

So here’s a few posts I’ve written in the past (yes one IS about gratitude) to get you through the hectic Thanksgiving holiday:

Checklist for a Stress-Free Dinner Party – If you’re hosting this year, check out this list to make sure you’re all ready for your guests! Read more

Why I’m Being Anti-Social This December

November 23, 2015/in Happiness, Holidays, People, Reduce Stress, Relationships/by Paula Rizzo

person-731467_640I’m always up for going to networking events, but recently I’ve found myself going to a lot of them and I’m getting burned out. I’m tired, cranky and forgetting things.  It’s not my style.

Just last week I went to see The Color Purple on Broadway (with Jennifer Hudson!) with friends from a networking group. There was a problem with the seating and I ended up sitting away from everyone. I was a bit bummed at first to be isolated from the group but the most unexpected thing happened.  After spending two hours on my own, I realized how little time I’ve spent by myself lately and I loved it!   Read more

Don’t Be A Scrooge This Christmas With This Checklist

November 2, 2015/in Benefits of List Making, Decision Making, Holidays, List Making, Reduce Stress, Saving Money, Saving Time/by Paula Rizzo

baby-21971_640 (1)I get that we are all busy people and money is always tight around this time of year, but there is nothing I hate more than people who ring you one week before Christmas and say “Sorry we –
insert excuse here – so maybe we just shouldn’t exchange gifts this year.” As though Christmas somehow managed to take them by surprise despite being an annual holiday.

I know most people don’t buy their Christmas presents quite as early as me, but the majority have them sorted by the week before and a last minute cancellation can really throw them off.

Be considerate of others this Christmas and follow this checklist:

Have the ‘Christmas’ talk – If you’re going to spend your time finding the perfect present for someone, it’s important to make sure they actually want it.

Now’s the time to drop your friends and family a quick text to find out “Are we doing presents this year?” Read more
